Terms & Conditions

The ground rules for using this website — short, and worth a minute of your time.

If you need help now

This site cannot respond in a crisis.

Messages sent here are read during working hours and answered within a couple of business days. They are not monitored around the clock.

If you are in danger, thinking about harming yourself, or facing a mental health emergency, do not use this form. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Agreement

This website is operated by Melanie K. Lindell Counseling PLLC ("the practice"). By browsing lindellcounseling.com or sending a message through it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

What this site is

Information, not treatment.

Everything on this site — the descriptions of Melanie's approach, her training, her fees — is offered for general information. It is not therapy, not a clinical assessment, and not medical, psychological, or legal advice. Nothing here should be relied on in place of a conversation with a qualified professional who knows your situation.

Reading these pages or sending an inquiry does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship begins only when Melanie and you have met, agreed to work together, and completed the intake and consent paperwork. Until then, please treat any correspondence as an initial conversation about whether working together makes sense.

Licensure

Where Melanie can practice.

Melanie K. Lindell is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State (license # LH60528990). Counseling licenses are granted state by state, and what governs a session held remotely is where you are sitting, not where Melanie is.

In practice, that means she works with clients located in Washington, and with clients living outside the United States, where different rules apply. If you are in another US state, she generally won't be able to see you remotely — write anyway, and she'll help you find someone who can.

Fees & scheduling

The fees, cancellation window, and insurance arrangements described on the Schedule & Fees page are current at the time of writing and may change with notice. The written agreement you sign as a client is what actually governs your fees, your appointments, and the 48-business-hours cancellation policy — not this website.

Using the contact form

Please use the form honestly and for its purpose: getting in touch about counseling. Don't use it to send advertising, to impersonate someone else, to submit anything unlawful, or to try to disrupt the site or the systems behind it.

As explained in the Privacy Policy, the form sends ordinary email and is not a confidential channel. Please keep sensitive clinical detail out of it.

Content ownership

The text, photographs, and design of this site belong to Melanie K. Lindell Counseling PLLC, or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to read, print, and share links freely. Please don't republish or adapt the content for your own site or materials without asking first.

Client and professional testimonials appear with permission and have been shortened where noted. They describe those people's experiences, not a promise of any particular outcome for you.

Links elsewhere

This site occasionally links to other organizations. Those links are offered as a convenience; the practice doesn't control those sites and isn't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Availability & liability

This website is provided as it is. Every effort is made to keep the information accurate and the site running, but it isn't guaranteed to be error-free, uninterrupted, or complete, and it may be changed or taken down at any time.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the practice is not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website or your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including anything to do with professional care actually provided to you as a client.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any dispute about them belongs in the state or federal courts serving Kitsap County, Washington.

Changes & contact

These terms may be updated from time to time; the current version always lives on this page with its date at the top. If anything here is unclear, write to melanie@lindellcounseling.com or call (425) 308-2156.
